If your domain is registered with Easyspace, you can point it to Host Dada by changing its nameservers (the settings that tell the internet where your domain's website and email live) in the Easyspace control panel. It takes about 10 minutes, then usually a few hours to take effect.

  • Applies to: All Host Dada hosting and email
  • Time: about 10 minutes, plus waiting time
  • Difficulty: Beginner

Before you start

  • You'll need your Easyspace control panel login.
  • Your domain must be registered with Easyspace. If it's registered somewhere else, change the nameservers there instead.
  • Set up your Host Dada hosting or email first, so there's somewhere for the domain to point. Not sure? See what nameservers do.
Before you switch: keep your email workingWhen the nameservers change, every DNS record at Easyspace stops being used, including the ones that deliver your email. Before you switch, write down your current MX, TXT (SPF, DMARC, and verification codes such as MS= or google-site-verification), CNAME and any other records, then recreate them in the Host Dada Control Panel. Our guide to managing DNS records shows you how. If your website is already on Host Dada hosting, its A records are added for you.

Step-by-step

Easyspace doesn't publish a public step-by-step guide for this, so the labels below are general. Look for the wording closest to them.

  1. Log in to Easyspace. Go to controlpanel.easyspace.com and sign in.
  2. Open your domains. Go to your list of domain names and select the domain you want to move to Host Dada.
  3. Find the nameserver settings. In the domain's management options, look for Nameservers or DNS settings. If you're offered a choice between Easyspace's nameservers and your own (custom) nameservers, choose your own.
  4. Enter the Host Dada nameservers. Replace the existing entries with the four Host Dada nameservers in the table below.
  5. Save. Save or update the settings. Most changes start to take effect within a few hours.

Host Dada nameservers

Enter all four, exactly as shown, one per box. If your registrar only shows two boxes, enter the first two and add the others if it lets you.

NameserverValue
Nameserver 1ns1.kandekore.net
Nameserver 2ns2.kandekore.net
Nameserver 3ns3.kandekore.net
Nameserver 4ns4.kandekore.net

If you can't find the setting, Easyspace's support team can change it for you through Easyspace Support Services.

Prefer to keep your DNS at Easyspace? Change the A record instead

If your email or other services are set up at Easyspace and you'd rather not move them, leave the nameservers as they are and point just your website at Host Dada. Use 45.8.224.98 for ProFlex hosting. For Essential or WordPress hosting, every package has its own address: copy the A record value from Manage DNS in the Host Dada Control Panel.

  1. In your Easyspace control panel, open Domain Management, select the domain and open its DNS settings.
  2. Edit the A record for the root of your domain so it points to your Host Dada IP address, and do the same for www.
  3. Delete every AAAA record.
  4. Leave your MX and TXT records alone, so your email keeps working.

If you have Domain Guardian, Easyspace sends a 6-digit code by text or email before it saves DNS changes. Easyspace's guide: Easyspace: Domain Guardian. For the full explanation, including why the AAAA records must go, see Point your domain to Host Dada with an A record.

How long it takes and how to check

Easyspace usually sends the change to the domain registry within minutes. Most of the internet sees the new nameservers within a few hours, but it can take up to 24 to 48 hours because other networks keep a cached copy of the old ones. During that time some visitors may see the old site and some the new, so keep your old hosting and email running until it has finished.

To check progress:

  • Use a free public checker such as whatsmydns.net. Choose NS, enter your domain and look for ns1.kandekore.net to ns4.kandekore.net around the world.
  • On a Mac or Linux computer, run dig NS yourdomain.co.uk +short in Terminal. On Windows, run nslookup -type=NS yourdomain.co.uk.

Our guide to DNS propagation explains what's happening in more detail.

Troubleshooting

I can't find a nameserver option

Some older Easyspace packages bundle the domain with hosting, and the nameserver setting is under the domain rather than the hosting package. If it's not there, ask Easyspace support to set the nameservers to the four Host Dada values above.

My email stopped arriving after the change

The MX records weren't recreated on Host Dada DNS before the switch. Add them in the Host Dada Control Panel now (see Manage DNS records). Mail usually starts flowing again within an hour. Senders' servers retry for a day or more, so most delayed messages still arrive.

The checker still shows the old nameservers

Give it time: up to 24 to 48 hours is normal. If nothing has changed after 48 hours, log back in and check the nameservers saved correctly, with no typing mistakes or full stops at the end.
