Here are the server settings you need to add your Host Dada email account to any email app, including Outlook, Apple Mail, Thunderbird, iPhone, Android and most printers and scanners. Copy them exactly and your email will send and receive securely.
Before you start
- The mailbox must already exist. If it doesn't, create it under Email Accounts in the Host Dada Control Panel first.
- You'll need the mailbox password. If you've forgotten it, you can reset it under Email Accounts in the Control Panel. It only takes a minute.
Recommended settings (IMAP)
Use IMAP if you can. It keeps your email in sync across your phone, laptop and webmail, so a message you read or delete on one device does the same everywhere.
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Account type | IMAP |
| Email address | Your full email address, e.g. you@yourbusiness.co.uk |
| Username | Your full email address (not just the part before the @) |
| Password | Your mailbox password |
| Incoming mail server | imap.hostdada.uk |
| Incoming port and security | 993, SSL/TLS |
| Outgoing mail server (SMTP) | smtp.hostdada.uk |
| Outgoing port and security | 587, STARTTLS |
| Outgoing server requires authentication | Yes, using the same username and password as incoming |
POP3 settings (only if you need them)
POP3 downloads email to one device and usually removes it from the server. Only choose it if you deliberately want email stored on a single computer.
| Setting | Value |
|---|---|
| Incoming mail server | pop3.hostdada.uk |
| Incoming port and security | 995, SSL/TLS |
| Outgoing mail server | smtp.hostdada.uk, port 587, STARTTLS, authentication on |
Webmail
You can read your email in any web browser at webmail.hostdada.uk. Sign in with your full email address and mailbox password. It's handy for checking that a password works before setting up an app.
Step-by-step guides for popular apps
If your app sets things up automatically, enter your email address and password and it should find these settings for you. If it can't, choose manual or advanced setup and enter the values above. Our app-specific guides are linked under Related articles below.
Troubleshooting
"Cannot connect to server" or the app keeps spinning
Check the server names are typed exactly as shown above, with no spaces, and that outgoing mail uses port 587 with STARTTLS. Some office and hotel Wi-Fi networks block email ports. Try your phone's mobile data to rule that out.
"Certificate is not valid" or "The identity of this server cannot be verified"
This usually means the app is using mail.yourdomain.co.uk as the server name. Change both the incoming and outgoing servers to imap.hostdada.uk and smtp.hostdada.uk, which have valid security certificates.
Password keeps being rejected
First, make sure the username is your full email address. Then sign in at Webmail with the same details. If webmail also rejects the password, reset it in the Control Panel and update it in every device you use.
I can receive but not send
Turn on "My outgoing server requires authentication" (sometimes labelled SMTP authentication) and set it to use the same settings as the incoming server.
