To move a domain from GoDaddy to Host Dada, turn off the transfer lock and choose Transfer to Another Registrar in your GoDaddy Domain Portfolio to see the authorisation code. For a .co.uk or .uk domain, enter Host Dada's IPS tag, HOSTDADA, instead.
Before you start
- 60-day rule: GoDaddy can't release a .com-type domain within 60 days of registration or a previous transfer, or within 60 days of an ownership change if you accepted the 60-day lock at the time.
- Domain Protection: if your domain has GoDaddy's Domain Protection, you'll need to verify with a text message or authenticator code. 2-step verification must have been on for at least 24 hours.
- Domain Privacy: GoDaddy switches off its privacy service during the transfer, so the registrant email must be one you can receive.
.com, .net, .org and other domains: unlock and get the code
- Sign in to GoDaddy and open your Domain Portfolio.
- Select the domain and open its Transfer settings.
- Turn the transfer lock off.
- Choose Transfer to Another Registrar and complete the Domain Protection verification if asked.
- Reveal and copy the authorisation code. GoDaddy shows it on screen with an option to copy it, and also emails it to the registrant.
GoDaddy's own guides: Transfer my domain away from GoDaddy and Get the authorisation code for my domain. GoDaddy updates its screens often, so follow its guide if the labels look different.
.uk domains: change the IPS tag to HOSTDADA
.uk domains (.co.uk, .uk, .org.uk, .me.uk and others) don't use authorisation codes. Instead, GoDaddy changes the domain's IPS tag to Host Dada's tag, HOSTDADA, and the domain moves across. Order the transfer at Host Dada first (see below) so we can match it to your account.
- Sign in to GoDaddy and open the .uk domain from your Domain Portfolio.
- Open its Transfer settings and choose Transfer to Another Registrar.
- Enter
HOSTDADAas the IPS tag and confirm with Complete Transfer.
Complete the transfer to Host Dada
-
Order the transfer. Go to Transfer in a Domain (or Domains → Transfer in a Domain in the Client Area), enter your domain under Domain Name and click Order Now.
Start the transfer in the Host Dada Client Area.
- Paste the authorisation code into the Authorization Code box when asked. Codes are case-sensitive, so copy and paste rather than typing. (.uk domains don't ask for a code.)
- Check the nameservers and check out. If checkout shows nameserver boxes, they're filled in with the Host Dada nameservers. Keep them if your website and email are with us, or enter your current nameservers if they're staying elsewhere for now. For most .com-type domains, the transfer adds a year to the registration.
- Approve and wait. GoDaddy may email you to accept or decline the transfer. Accepting it speeds things up. Otherwise .com-type transfers usually complete within 5 to 7 days. For a .uk domain, change the IPS tag as described above and it usually arrives within a few hours.
- Check everything once it arrives. The domain appears under Domains → My Domains. Check auto-renew is on and the Contact Information is correct.

Troubleshooting
GoDaddy asks for a verification code I don't have
Domain Protection needs 2-step verification that's been on for at least 24 hours. Set it up, wait a day, then try again, or contact GoDaddy support.
The transfer option is greyed out
The domain is probably within a 60-day lock (new registration, recent transfer or ownership change) or still locked. GoDaddy shows the reason on the domain's settings page.
My GoDaddy Microsoft 365 email stopped
Email bought from GoDaddy is tied to GoDaddy. Before moving the domain, plan where your email will live, for example Host Dada Email or Microsoft 365 through Host Dada, and ask us to help move it.
