TSOHost accounts have moved to 123 Reg, so if your domain was registered with TSOHost you now change its nameservers (the settings that tell the internet where your domain's website and email live) in the 123 Reg Control Panel. It takes about 10 minutes, then usually a few hours to take effect.

  • Applies to: All Host Dada hosting and email
  • Time: about 10 minutes, plus waiting time
  • Difficulty: Beginner
TSOHost is now part of 123 RegThe tsohost.com website now redirects to 123 Reg, which says TSOHost products are being moved across with your domains, websites and email unchanged. You can sign in to 123 Reg with your existing TSOHost login details. See 123 Reg's welcome page for TSOHost customers.

Before you start

  • You'll need your TSOHost login details, which now work on the 123 Reg Control Panel.
  • Your domain must be registered with TSOHost (now 123 Reg). If it's registered somewhere else, change the nameservers there instead.
  • Set up your Host Dada hosting or email first, so there's somewhere for the domain to point. Not sure? See what nameservers do.
  • The domain must not be locked. If 123 Reg says it is, unlock it first.
Before you switch: keep your email workingWhen the nameservers change, every DNS record at TSOHost or 123 Reg stops being used, including the ones that deliver your email. Before you switch, write down your current MX, TXT (SPF, DMARC, and verification codes such as MS= or google-site-verification), CNAME and any other records, then recreate them in the Host Dada Control Panel. Our guide to managing DNS records shows you how. If your website is already on Host Dada hosting, its A records are added for you.

Step-by-step

  1. Log in to 123 Reg. Go to account.123-reg.co.uk and sign in with your TSOHost email and password.
  2. Find the domain. Open My Products, find your domain in the Domains section and select Manage.
  3. Open the nameserver settings. On the Domain Portfolio page, click DNS, then Nameservers, then Change Nameservers.
  4. Choose your own nameservers. Select I'll use my own nameservers and enter the four Host Dada nameservers in the table below.
  5. Save. Click Save. 123 Reg says nameserver changes take 24 to 48 hours to become active.
Account not migrated yet?If your account is still on the old TSOHost control panel, look for the domain's Nameservers or DNS settings there and enter the same four values. If you can't sign in to either, contact TSOHost or 123 Reg support.

Enter all four, exactly as shown, one per box. If your registrar only shows two boxes, enter the first two and add the others if it lets you.

123 Reg's own instructions: How do I change the nameservers for my domain name?

How long it takes and how to check

123 Reg usually sends the change to the domain registry within minutes. Most of the internet sees the new nameservers within a few hours, but it can take up to 24 to 48 hours because other networks keep a cached copy of the old ones. During that time some visitors may see the old site and some the new, so keep your old hosting and email running until it has finished.

To check progress:

  • Use a free public checker such as whatsmydns.net. Choose NS, enter your domain and look for ns1.kandekore.net to ns4.kandekore.net around the world.
  • On a Mac or Linux computer, run dig NS yourdomain.co.uk +short in Terminal. On Windows, run nslookup -type=NS yourdomain.co.uk.

Our guide to DNS propagation explains what's happening in more detail.

Troubleshooting

My TSOHost login doesn't work on 123 Reg

Use the password reset on the 123 Reg login page with the email address on your TSOHost account. If your account hasn't been moved yet, sign in to the TSOHost control panel instead.

My email stopped arriving after the change

The MX records weren't recreated on Host Dada DNS before the switch. Add them in the Host Dada Control Panel now (see Manage DNS records). Mail usually starts flowing again within an hour. Senders' servers retry for a day or more, so most delayed messages still arrive.

The checker still shows the old nameservers

Give it time: up to 24 to 48 hours is normal. If nothing has changed after 48 hours, log back in and check the nameservers saved correctly, with no typing mistakes or full stops at the end.
