ProFlex runs on LiteSpeed Enterprise, so the free LiteSpeed Cache plugin for WordPress can serve your pages straight from the server's cache. That's usually the single biggest speed improvement you can make. This guide shows how to install it, pick a safe preset, purge the cache and check it's working.
Before you start
- Your site must be WordPress on ProFlex. If you haven't installed it yet, see Install and manage WordPress with WP Toolkit.
- Use one caching plugin only. Deactivate and delete other page-caching plugins (WP Super Cache, W3 Total Cache, WP Rocket, WP Fastest Cache and similar) before you start. Running two at once causes broken or out-of-date pages.
- Take a backup first (WP Toolkit → Back Up / Restore).
Install LiteSpeed Cache
- Log in to WordPress. The quickest way is cPanel → WordPress Management → Log in on your site's card.
- Go to Plugins → Add New Plugin and search for
LiteSpeed Cache. - Click Install Now on the plugin by LiteSpeed Technologies, then Activate.
You can also install it from the Plugins tab of your site in WP Toolkit.
Page caching starts working as soon as the plugin is active. A new LiteSpeed Cache menu appears in the WordPress sidebar.
Choose a preset
Presets apply a tested group of settings in one click.
- Go to LiteSpeed Cache → Presets in the WordPress sidebar.
-
Pick a preset and click Apply Preset.
- Essentials: caching only, no risk, no extra account needed. Start here if you're unsure.
- Advanced (Recommended): adds CSS, JavaScript and HTML minification, guest optimisation and more. Suitable for most sites, but check your pages afterwards.
- Aggressive and Extreme: maximum optimisation. They often need tuning, so only use them if you're comfortable testing every page.
LiteSpeed Cache → Presets in the WordPress dashboard.
- Check your site in a private or incognito window: menus, forms, sliders, checkout and anything interactive. If something looks wrong, apply a gentler preset.
Purge (clear) the cache
LiteSpeed Cache clears affected pages automatically when you publish or update content. If you change your theme, menus or widgets and don't see the change, purge everything:
- Hover over the LiteSpeed icon in the black admin bar at the top of WordPress and click Purge All, or
- Go to LiteSpeed Cache → Toolbox → Purge and click Purge All.
LiteSpeed Cache → Toolbox → Purge.
Check the cache is working
- Log out of WordPress, or open a private browser window. Logged-in pages aren't cached by default.
- Open your home page, then reload it.
- Check the response headers. Press F12, open the Network tab, reload, click the first request and look under Response Headers for
x-litespeed-cache: hit. The first visit showsmiss; the next one should showhit.
WooCommerce and logged-in users
LiteSpeed Cache knows about WooCommerce. It doesn't cache the cart, checkout or My Account pages, and it keeps baskets separate for each visitor. Leave those defaults alone. If you run a membership site, keep Cache Logged-in Users (under Cache) turned off unless you've tested it carefully.
Troubleshooting
My changes don't show on the live site
Click Purge All, then reload in a private window. If you use Cloudflare, purge its cache too, or connect Cloudflare under LiteSpeed Cache → CDN so the plugin purges it for you.
The layout is broken or buttons stopped working after applying a preset
That's usually CSS or JavaScript optimisation. Apply the Essentials preset to undo it, purge the cache, then turn optimisations back on one at a time under Page Optimization to find the culprit.
The header always shows "miss" or no LiteSpeed header at all
Make sure you're logged out and that no other caching plugin is active. Pages with query strings, forms that set cookies, or a site in maintenance mode won't be cached. If it still won't cache, open a ticket and we'll check the server side.
The Crawler doesn't run
The cache crawler (which warms the cache in advance) is controlled at server level. If you'd like it enabled for your site, open a support ticket.
