To move a domain from Namecheap to Host Dada, open the domain's Sharing & Transfer tab, unlock it and request the authorisation code, which Namecheap emails to the registrant. For a .co.uk or .uk domain, change the IPS tag to HOSTDADA in the same place.
Before you start
- 60-day rule: the domain must be more than 60 days old and not have changed registrar in the last 60 days.
- Registrant email: Namecheap sends the code to the domain's registrant email, which may be different from your Namecheap account email. Check it under the domain's contact details first.
.com, .net, .org and other domains: unlock and get the code
- Sign in to Namecheap and go to Domain List.
- Click Manage next to the domain.
- Open the Sharing & Transfer tab.
- Unlock the domain and request the code in the Transfer Out section. Namecheap emails the authorisation code to the registrant.

.uk domains: change the IPS tag to HOSTDADA
.uk domains (.co.uk, .uk, .org.uk, .me.uk and others) don't use authorisation codes. Instead, Namecheap changes the domain's IPS tag to Host Dada's tag, HOSTDADA, and the domain moves across. Order the transfer at Host Dada first (see below) so we can match it to your account.
- Go to Domain List, click Manage and open Sharing & Transfer.
- In Transfer Out, click UNLOCK on the Domain Lock line.
- Click Change next to the IPS tag, enter
HOSTDADAand click Save Changes. Allow up to 24 hours.

Complete the transfer to Host Dada
-
Order the transfer. Go to Transfer in a Domain (or Domains → Transfer in a Domain in the Client Area), enter your domain under Domain Name and click Order Now.
Start the transfer in the Host Dada Client Area.
- Paste the authorisation code into the Authorization Code box when asked. Codes are case-sensitive, so copy and paste rather than typing. (.uk domains don't ask for a code.)
- Check the nameservers and check out. If checkout shows nameserver boxes, they're filled in with the Host Dada nameservers. Keep them if your website and email are with us, or enter your current nameservers if they're staying elsewhere for now. For most .com-type domains, the transfer adds a year to the registration.
- Approve and wait. Namecheap has up to 5 days to release a .com-type domain. You may get an email to approve the transfer, which speeds it up. For a .uk domain, change the IPS tag as described above and it usually arrives within a few hours.
- Check everything once it arrives. The domain appears under Domains → My Domains. Check auto-renew is on and the Contact Information is correct.

Troubleshooting
The code email never arrived
It goes to the registrant email on the domain, not necessarily your account email. Check the domain's contacts and your spam folder.
Namecheap DNS or email stops working
Namecheap services tied to the domain may end when it leaves. Set up DNS and email at Host Dada before the transfer completes.
Host Dada says the domain is still locked
Check the lock shows as unlocked in Sharing & Transfer, then wait 15 minutes and try the transfer again.
