Send everyone who visits one domain to another website, for example forwarding yourbusiness.com to yourbusiness.co.uk or to a social media page. On Host Dada you do this with a website redirect in the Host Dada Control Panel.
Before you start
- The domain you want to forward must use the Host Dada nameservers (
ns1.kandekore.nettons4.kandekore.net). See What are nameservers? - The domain must be added to a hosting package, either as the main domain or as an extra domain. See Add a website or domain to your hosting package.
- Decide on the full address to forward to, including
https://, for examplehttps://www.yourbusiness.co.uk.
Step-by-step
- Log in to the Host Dada Control Panel. Go to cp.hostdada.uk, or from the Client Area choose Services → your hosting → Login to Control Panel.
- Open Redirects. Click Manage on the hosting package, then Redirects in the Web Tools section. The page is called Website Redirect.
-
Fill in Create Website Redirect.
- Domain: choose the domain you want to forward.
- Redirect From: leave it as
/to forward the whole domain, or enter a path such as/offersto forward one page. - Redirect To: the full address to send visitors to, for example
https://www.yourbusiness.co.uk. - Redirect Type: choose 301 Permanent Redirect for a permanent move (best for search engines) or 302 Temporary Redirect if it's short-term.
The Create Website Redirect form in the Host Dada Control Panel.
- Click Create Redirect. The redirect appears under Edit Website Redirects, where you can change or remove it later. Visit the domain in a private browsing window to test it.
https://yourbusiness.com)? Make sure free SSL is active on it. See Activate free SSL and force HTTPS.Other situations
- ProFlex (cPanel) hosting: use Redirects in the Domains section of cPanel.
- Domain with no hosting: a redirect needs somewhere to run. Open a ticket and we'll recommend the simplest option for you.
- Forcing www or HTTPS on your own site: see Set up a domain redirect or force www.
Troubleshooting
The redirect doesn't happen
Check the domain is on the Host Dada nameservers and that the redirect shows under Edit Website Redirects. Your browser may have cached the old page, so test in a private window.
"Too many redirects" error
The redirect is pointing back to itself, or to a site that redirects back. Check Redirect To is a different domain or page, and remove any conflicting redirect in your website's settings or .htaccess file.
Browser shows a security warning on the forwarded domain
The domain you're forwarding has no SSL certificate yet. Activate free SSL for it, then test again.
